Product design is a tricky thing. Done well, an object can be useful and beautiful.
And then there’s this.
In fairness to the designer, I’m sure he was given a difficult list of requirements to fulfill. But the trunk… well, it doesn’t look like a trunk to me. It looks like an area of the body that requires fiber to work properly.
Somehow this drink container got through all the stages of development without a single person saying “Um, maybe we need to work on the trunk a little bit”.
Good product design is important. Bad product design can be hilarious.
This is quite possibly the strangest premise for a crime novel I’ve ever seen.
According to my very brief bit of research, Carol Lea Benjamin is a renowned dog trainer as well as a former private investigator. Both of these areas of expertise come into play in The Long Good Boy:
Rachel and Dash have a new client. Well, three new clients. A trio of transvestite working girls want Rachel to investigate the death of one of their own. Rosalinda’s throat was slashed on Halloween right after the Greenwich Village parade. Finding her killer isn’t exactly the NYPD’s top priority—and LaDonna, Chi Chi, and Jasmine are terrified that they’ll be next.Amazon
Rachel and Dash (her pit bull) gets some extra help from Chi Chi’s clever mini-dachshund, Clint, in solving the mystery killing.
So do Rachel and Dash solve the murder? You’ll have to order The Long Good Boy to find out!
