On our way back from Washington, DC, we stayed over in Raleigh, North Carolina to visit friends. I was also able to partake in some thriftourism in the town of Cary, which is just west of Raleigh.
Dorcas Ministries offers a wide variety of neighbor services to the residents of Cary. This includes their fantastic thrift store. Let’s take a look!
This purse was practically screaming at me from the rack. It fits my middle child’s personality.
This is something that I’d never seen before and really appreciated. They put little arrows on blemishes that might otherwise go unnoticed. That way there’s no surprises when you get home.
Today I’m looking for shirts for middle child. I came across a Canada 150 t-shirt from Joe Fresh! What are the odds?!
Let’s spend some time in the housewares section!
I checked for markings on both of these, but they weren’t silver. Oh well.
This is a perfect drink dispenser for big parties.
And this blue kettle is super cute.
This was a really unusual find. It was a bunch of cutlery, but wrapped in small units. Upon inspection, I saw that they were all cutlery from a variety of airlines! How strange is that? How did they get here? Was someone collecting these? Is there someone responsible for disposing of all the airline cutlery after a set period of time?
Let’s take a peek at home decor now!
If I wanted to be completely self-aggrandising, I could put this up in my house for my kids to see EVERY DAY.
This would be adorable for a nursery.
Remember once upon a time when everybody and their mothers all smoked?
Always have to look at the furniture. Even though we’re on vacation and I’d have no way of getting it home.
Even with one shelf in need of repair, this is still a really nice etageré set.
This antique dresser had a bit of wobble in it’s drawers, but I could forgive that. With a big enough foyer, the dresser would be a nice landing pad.
The note on top of this organ says that only the top keyboard works. Would it be worth repairing? I really don’t know.
Congrats to the person who snatched up this waterfall tallboy.
So what did I come home with?
Two shirts $1 for the middle child, including the Canada 150 shirt from Joe Fresh. I also bought her the snazzy purse mentioned above, because I’m a super nice mom.
For myself, I found this phenomenal Great American Leatherworks bag. The surface of the faux leather purse I bought a few months ago was starting to peel apart, so this was a great replacement for it. It’s got lots of individual pockets, which I love. I also like that it can be used as a cross-body bag as well, which helps my shoulders a little.
And because I needed a fancy purse for weddings and other special occasions, this flawless Nine West tote.
Dorcas Ministries has a great store, and I had a great time shopping there. I hope you had fun thriftouring with me in Cary, NC!
